THE HARBOUR FERRY SERVICE
Mr. J. S. Day, Town Clerk of Eastbourne, explained on Saturday the suspended time-table, which- will be adhered to by- the. harbour ferries while the coal strike lasts. "Briefly speaking," he said, "the amended schedule means that on week-days' (from Mondays to Fridays) the usual 10.16 a.m., 12.15 p.m.-, 2.30 p.m., and 4.15 p.m. boats from town have been dropped, and a boat will leave Wellington at 11 a.m. each day in their place. The last boat from town will he 6.20 p.m., with the'exception of Friday night, when the 9.30 p.m. boat will be kept ou. From Day's Bay, there will be no 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 4.20 p.m., 5,20 p.m., and 7.10 p.m. boats as usual, but a ferry will leave Rona Bay at 5.50 p.m. and Day s Bay at 6' p.m. for AVellington in their place. On Saturdays'the 10.15 a.m., 1.20 p.m., 4.15 p.m., 9.20 p.m., and 11.15 p.m. ferries from town will be discontinued, and the'last boat from Wellington on these nights will he at 10.15. This will mean that those Eastbourne residents who have previously beenable to come into town on Saturday aiid go to the theatre will now have to catch the 10.15 p.m. ferry back to the bay. From Eastbourne, the Saturday boats at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3.5 p.m., and 10.10 p.m. have been discontinued. On Sunday there lias not been much •'alteration, except that visitors to the bay will have to leave Day's Bay at 5 p.m. and Rona Bay at 5.10 p.m. for Wellington in"place of 8.15 P-i". and 830 p.m. respectively. In addition there will he no 9.15 p.m. boat from town on Sunday." These new arrangements come into foroe to-uay.
