THE HYPOCRITE KAISER
"ON OUR SIDE ARE RIGHT 'AND MORALITY." The New York "World" recently printed a dispatch from Berlin annpiincing that during tho Kaiser's visit to Vienna he received Dr. Hans Muller, tho. Austrian poet and playwright, who is permitted to publish tho first interview with tho Kaiser on tho war. Dr. Muller says that the Kaiser exclaimed: "Look at the European neutrals! Read the Swedish answer 1 This doou-. ment is written as if for all eternity I Now neutrals know Tight well how they have to estimate our strength, likewise our will io 'peace! "Napoleon's Continental blockade from a phantom ig becoming a reality, one which will hit England harder than everything else heretofore." Dr. Muller intorjected with tho remark that the Austrians i stand ready with sacrifices. The Kaiser beamed and said.: "I know, and I rejoice with all my
heart to soo how splendily your bluejackets work with mine. There is greatnoßS of purpose- in this; the- goal is sot and things aro going ahead." The writer referred to tho Kaiser's peace letter to tho Chancellor. Tho Emperor nodded energetically and said: : "The letter had to bo written; this step had to bo taken. For now all the world knows who they aro who impose continued miseries on humanity. Do they already forgot that it is the Entente which protects tho murderors of the Archduke- I'Yancis Forduiand? How short is the world's memory! Over our enemies from tho very beginning lios tho shadow of this crime. On our side are right and morality, and to help theso to triumpli every shining weapon must bo welcome to us."
