JOHN BULL'S REGISTER
This spirited monthly paper is noiv in its third issue, and a copy of the April number has reached us. The current number is an admirable compendium of what the world is doing with a view to a revision and reform of economic conditions when the .war is over, more particularly with reference to the oustin? of the Gorman cloment economically, socially, politically, and in every way possible. In this fight the "Register" takes the gloves off with no uncertainty, and it hits out with the utmost freedom and virility at what it justly terms "the German menaco." The April.issue devotes itself to many immediate happonings. It. tells of Germans being among the crow of the lost Otaki;' of foreign names in New Zealand share lists; and apart from its anti-Geiaian propaganda, it has many other crisp rtnd frankly emphatic features, including a vigorous handling of the quack ijiedicine vendor. Tho black lists are brought up to dato for general information, and a series of humorous sketches of camp life at Trentham and Featherston leaven the more serious matter. An article upon 'Treetrade and Protection" is of more than jnccial interest at the moment. Among the other regular features of the,paper are the Legal Page, Pictures and Players, Musical 'Notes, and "Books and Bookmen. The cartoons arc rtocidertl.v apronns, and tlio general illustrating is illuminative and'appropriate. The April issue is now on salo throughout the Dominion,
