A WANGANUI SUGGESTION, In common '•with, other heads; of municipal departments, the. engineer and manager of the Wariganui Municipal Tramways (Mr. F. P. Talboys) has been asked to" report on tho position of his department by tho National Efficiency Board. '. After stating that the staff is down to. a minimum for the efficient working of tho sjstem, 'Mr. Talboys says that as tho need arises women could replace men in tho office and as conductors and in the capacity of motormen. , ' "If tho calling up of men is to bo offected with, as littlo dislocation of ordinary business as possible," says tho engineer, "the Government ought to supplv the following, information at once as "to the policy they intend to adopt:—(l) Is it intended to increase tho ago limit for single men before calling up tho Second Division? (2) What classification of the Second Division is intended? (3} Could approximate dates be given for tho calling up of each class? (4) Could Second Division men bo examined by the: Medical Board at as early a date as possiblo, ,so that all men of military ago could be classified either as eligible or inollgble for military service? Tho possession'of such information, which the Governmont ought to bo urged to <nve, would cnablo employers to make arrangements for tho future release or as many won as possiblo, with a minimum disturbance of business. '
