ONSLOW BOROUGH
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The filial meeting of the Onslow /Borough Council, as at present : constituted, ' was . held last evening, the Mayor (Mr., C. C. Crump) presiding. The others present were: Councillors J. G. Smith, C. Bowdcn, I/.' A. Browne, H. Brcutbn Bule, A. W. C. Palmer, J. C; ''Gardner: -. ,'"• The : borough cleric submitted a draft of the borough balance-sheet for the year endod March 31, 1917. 'This showed that a balance of £170 Is. lid. was brought forward from the preceding year. The receipts from rates, including a. subsidy of £200, totalled £2258 14s. lid., licenses and fees yielded £63 145., miscellaneous £10 19s. Gd., catchment area £52, and other items made the total £2817 10s. 6d. The expenditure amounted to £27.47 4s. 2d., of which salaries, legal expenses, etc., accounted for £739 12s. 8(1.,' road account absorbed. £837.175. 6d., and several small items brought up the balance. The excess of revenue over expenditure was shown at £70 6s. 4d. Two cases of infectious diseases at Kaiwarra and one at Khandallah were reported, and the suggestions by the Public Health Department that certain sanitary defects should he remedied was referred to the engineer.
