' GRAND OPERA HOUSE. The laughter-raising comedy, "A l'air of Sixes," was presented at the Grvnd Opera House for the last time yesterday evening. This evening the curtaiu will rise oil the comedy drama, "The Travelling Salesman/'' Unlike "Baldpate," there is 110 mystery, but there is a great deal of mirth, and a laTge measure _of romance, while the whole play, it is said, is held together by the silken cord 6 of human interest. As Beth Elliott, Miss Beatrice Holloway has a very important part, and she is said to be excellent in the emotional scenes, while the comedy situations are said to givo opportunities denied her in' the two opening pieces. As the bright, breezy travelling salesman, Bob Blake, Mr. Robert Greig is stated to be at his very best. Miss Marion Marcus Clarke is said to be very excellent in the role of Mrs. Babbitt, the Iboardinghouse-keeper, who detests commercial travellers. Mr. Guy Hastings , will play the important character of Pranklrn Joyce, and Mr. Kenneth Brampton the strenuous Tole of Ted Watts. Mr. J. B. Atholwood frill appear as Julius, Edwin X«ter as John ICimball, Mr. Thomas Lloyd as Ben Cobb, Mr. Herbert Leigh as Martin Drury, Mr. Harold Moran as Bill Crabb, Raymond Lawrence as Pierce Gill, Clive Farnum as William Henry Dawson, and Mrs. Charles Holloway as Mm. Dawson. During the progress of the play Miss Beatrice Holloway, it is said, wears some very charming frocks.
HIS MAJESTY'S THEATEE.' The programme submitted at His Majesty's Theatre this week is well varied and has been attracting full houses. The leading place on the bill ia again held by Zakaree Ermakov,' an ex-Secret Service man, who gives an interesting lecture, principally <pii Germany, which he varies with some wonderful work with the war arms of the nation. Walter Emerson is making a reappearance, and he, partly by himself, and partly in company with Miss G. Hasto, makes things hilarious. There are also a large number of items, including those of comedians, singers, dancers, wizards, etc.
"WATCH YOUR STEP" BEYUE. At tho Grand Opera House on Tuesday .-next, and following nights, the revue, "Watch Your Step," Will be produced by a talented company of Aucklanders in aid of the Ebturned Soldiers' Association. The company has iust concluded a highly successful ten-nights' season in Auckland, where tho revue was compared favourably with the best which can be done by professional companies. The revue is produced by Jlr. Owen Cardston, and the company includes 100 performers. The 6cenery, staging, and solo and chorus work were tho {subject of the most cnthusiastio comment. All the features which contributed to establish the performance as an unqualified success have been preserved, and patrons will be able to see the revue exactly as it was produced in Auckland. The object of the initial season and of the tour, to augment the funds of tho Soldiers' Association, is/in itself a strong recommendajtion, but for public support ■ tlie company can afford to rely upon tho intrinsic merits of the performance. Mr. H. H. M'Nelly is in town making arrangements for the production. The cast includes Eva Cardston, Ethel Rae, J. Wallace Atkinson, Jas. H. Davey, O»mond .Tames, Geo. Tucker, Ken. Mynott, Norman Kent, Evan M'Cormick, Francis Egerton, Jean Russell, Ida Histed, Ella Walker, and Beth Haven. Mr. Rex Yates is stage manager.' The plan opens at the Bristol to-morrow mornilig.
THE KING'S. Lilian Walker, in the Greater Vitagraph play, "Indiscretion," is seen in a clever portrayal that gives tho fullest 6cope for the charms of this pretty artist. From tho opening scenes where sho disputes with some men the_rigiht to a bathing pool to tho last tragic scene, whore dishonour threatens her, the play is strong and full of high emotion. Cartoons of Lloyd George, excellently and seriously done, together with comedy, and topical subjects, wake up the programme. Commencing Saturday, Clara Kimball Young will reappear in "Tho Common Law." THE IMPRESS. 'flhe present programme, headed by Ethel Clayton in "The, Bondage of Fear, is an excellent one, and is attracting full houses. Arthur Ashley is as good as ever in the villainous role o£ a "crook," and the iheroiae plays tho part of a young wife tortured by the fear of a past mis-step, with a nice conception of the possibilities of the situation. On Saturday Clara Kimball Young will be presented in a new picture "said to be equally) as good as lier last Wo big successes "The Dark Silence" and "The Common Law." . EVERYBODY'S. Jlao Marsh and Robert Harron are tlie stars in a novel and well-presented. Triangle play, "The Wharf Eat," tolling a 6tory of ( tho San Francisco water* front. There'"are both humorous and. dramatic moments before the end. Billie Burke, in "The Mesh of Mystery," is being eagerly followed by an increasing band of admirers. On Saturday, Dorothy Dalton wijl star in "The Female of the Species,"'a special Triangle play.
