\ MR. "CRUMP'S CAMPAIGN. Mr.,C. C. Crump, present Mayor of Onslow, addressed a- meeting at ifhan<lallah last' evening. . Mr. J. G. Harkness presided, and said it was during his term of office that the catchment area was acquired by.the borough. ■;;Mr.'Crump, referring to Mr. Fulton's report on the water scheme, gave the. names of nineteen towns in England which used twenty-three gallons of water, per head per day. The Onslow proposal was for twenty-five gallons per head per day for 5000 people, but really the population (without Kaiwarra) was much less than '2000.' Dams "to provide for increased population could be made further up the valley:' An ample supply of water for 5000 people would ..bo-available in the driest .season. ■
Councillor J. G. Smith spoke, and strongly supported the statements iof the Mayor., Referring to the Mayor's activities, he said that for the past two years' Mr. Criinip had devoted practically the whole of his time to affairs of the borough, and with most boneficiaj results...''-. ~.'.'., , The meeting concluded with a hoarty vote of thanks, to and confidence in the Maydr.;v,'..]'.. ( • ' ./ Mr. J. who has been nominated for the Mayoralty of Onslow, is a.member of the legjl firm of Messrs. Atkinson and Dale. He is at present acouncillor of the borough, and is opposed to tlio propjsed water supply from the Khaiidallih catchment.arca. TheOnslow Borough Council election meeting in support of those candidates opposed to the catchment water scheme will be held at S p.m. in the Town Hall, Khandallah, to-morrow (Thursday) and Tuesday, Apr'l 24, and also in the Anglican. Schoolroom, Ngaio, at 8 o'clock: torriijht and Tuesday, lApril 24. ]
