POLICE OSSES.i' Oases of using obacane language come rather frequently before tho Wellington Magistrates. . Mr. L. G. Beid, S.M., had betote him three such cases. Frederick Bairaes, Patrick Kain, and John Thorpe Were all coflvicted of using obscene language, and )vere each fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment. i'or insobriety, Albert Winn, Thomas Francis Burke, and John , Wjtin wero each fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment. In the case \df John Wynn, a prohibition order was issued at his own request. Angus Mackay was fined 10s-., or is to sen'e three ; days in gaol. Two first offenders wevo convicted and discharged. John Hyde,' convicted of committing a breach .of his prohibition order, was fined £2, default being fixed at 14 days' imptisonment. ■ . . Thomas Williams, who was £31 in arrears in respect of a maintenance order, was ordered to pay ss. per iteek , off the arrears, in default,to nndevgcf fourteen days' imprisqnniont. Hubwt' Broderick, whose arrears totalled £$!3 55., was ordered .to pay 7s. 6d. off them, in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
