A Press Association message from Auckland states that-Mr.-Malcolm G. M'Gregor, barrister and solicitor, died suddenly yesterday morning. He had ii ■wide experience in shipping law, and appeared in nearly every contested actiou of that nature. , . ..' '■ '■'

The Rev. T. G. Hommand, who has been appointed general ' superintendent of the Methodist' Maori Missions, was farewelled at Hawera last week. ThxMayor (Mr. E. Dixon) presented Mr. Hammond with an illuminated address, setting forth the value of his services to Taranaki and the esteem in which he was everywhere held, and a purse containing a cheque for £100.
The death occurred at Lower Hutt on Sunday.evening of M. Charles Hollard, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of the district. The late Mr. Hollard had lived" at Lower Hutt practically all flie 68 years of his life. Mr. Hollard for some time followed the pursuits of a farmer at Greytown, and on the death of his father returned to Waiwetu over forty years ago, and resided' there until his death. , For some years he has been living in retirement. He was a Justico of the Peace, an ex-councillor, and a member of the first band formed in the district. He also, took an interest in Church matters, and for over fourteen years was conduoior of the Wesley Church choir. As a member of the Hutt Horticultural Society ho rendered that body excellent service. The late Mr. Hollardl was an excellent rifle shot, and was a cricketer of note in his younger days, and his prowess at throwing the hammer and crowbar at athletic gatherings were well known to athletes of a generation ago. Ho was one of the foundation members of the Hutt Bowling Club, of which he was an ex-president, was for ten years a member of the executive committee of the club, and for a number of years ho acted as ground superintendent. Tho gratuitous service he has givon to th' club in making their property _ one of the beauty spots of the Dominion is recognised by thousands of bowlers throughout Now Zealand l . As lato as Saturday ho was on tho Hutt bowling green. Tho lato Mr. Hollard leaves a widow, a son, and two married daughters.- Tho sou is Mr. E. Hollard, merchant, Hawera, one daughter is the wifo of Mr. B. Johnson, Lower Hutt, and the other of Mr. H. F. Ayson, -Judgo of tho Native Court in the Cook Islands: Roferonco was made at last ovening's meeting of tho tower Hutt Borough Council to the loss "to the community by the' death of ex-Councillor Hollard, who had taken an active interest in. tho borough affairs.. A motion of condolence with his widow and family was passed in silence, the council standing. A letter of sympathy is to bo forwarded by the council to the deceased's relatives.
