' . YESTERDAY'S CASES. ' At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Mr. L. G. lleid, S.M., presided. For insobriety, six .first offenders were convicted and discharged, and Annabella Swanson was fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment. Patrick Byan, for committing a breach of his prohibition was lined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment. Thomas O'Brien, convicted on a similar charge, was fined 10s., ih default there days' imprisonment. William Wallace, convicted of being a rogue and a vagabond, in that he was found by night on enclosed premises, was sent to gaol for seven days. Aleck Macks was fined 10s., iu the alternative three days' imprisonment, tor assaulting James Scails. Hilda Koberstein, charged with concealment of birth, was, on the application of Chief Detective Boddom, remanded till' Wednesday. BY-LAW. CASES. Mary Ann Curry, convicted of Sunday trading, was fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment. For riding motor-cycles in Adelaide Road in a manner dangerous to the publio, P. Murphy was fined 405., a'hd costs, ami W. H. Edwards 205., arid costs.. George Longhurst, for leaving his vehiclo- in Molesworth Street unattended was fined 205., and costs 7s. John M'Caskel, for driving a vehicle in Lambton Quay at night at an excessive speed, was,also fined 205., and costs 7s.

Bertram Poult was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s. for riding a bicycle at night without a light, for a similar offence, Alfred H. Lake was fined 205., and coßts 75., in default seven days' imprisonment. Lake was reprimanded with for giving a false address. Charles D. Hargreaves, for allowing stock to wander, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 7s. Mrs. M'Kcnzio, for failing to pay a, tram faro, was convicted and ordered to pay 7s. costs. BREACHES OF AWARDS. The Inspector of Awards (Mr. G. H. Lightfoot) proceeded' against Babage Brothers for employing a female assistant after 9 p.m. Defendants were convicted and fined 55., and costs 7s. A fine of 205., with costs 75., was imposed upon Sing On Tie for selling cigarettes to a customer after 9.20 p.m.
