GRAND , LODGE SESSION, , The biennial session of the Grand: Lodge of New Zealand was opened in the Baptist ''. Schoolroom . yesterday morning, and was presided over by Bro. T. H. Dalton, G.C.T. (Dunedin). There were delegates from all lodges in. the Dominion. Various committees were appointed for the session. Greetings were received from other grand lodges and kindred Bocioties. The following motion was carried in silence:—"That wo extend sympathy to the relatives of our late G.S., J.W., Sister Mrs. Cameron, the late Bro. 'Johnson, D.1.C.T., Bro. Ayueley, G.G., and'the relatives of our departed brethren who have laid dovn. their.lives for King and; country."

The G.C.T. report was received and referred to the various committees. The report of the G.E.S. was received and discussed, and the grand secretary's report was received. ';.: The , membership, considering the strenuous times, showed a\satisfactory position. '•'■■-, '.-■ ■ , The report showed that 264 members of the order have gone to the front to serve their King and country, twentysix of whom have made the isupreme sacrifice. • One brother gained the I?.C.M. The question of a memorial was referred to the Grand Executive. : . The grand treasurer's report was received and adopted. A special committee on finance was appointed. \ ■ - Various alterations were made in the Political Action Committee. ' During the evening session a large number of members were initiated into the"grand degree.. A deputation was received representing the Independent Order of Rechabites, and important- questions were discussed. _' . . It was decided 1 to erect a memorial at Dunedin to the memory of the late G.S./J.W., Sister Mrs. Cameron. The lodge adjourned till 10 a.m. today., "... . ■ :
