Eric Norman M'Ajhnden was convicted of insobriety arid was-ordered to pay. a fine of : 10s. or spend 48/ lours in gaol- On a charge of being disorderly while drunk, Percival Green was similarly penalised. • . James Green, father of the last oetfendant, was convicted of obstructing the. police, and was also fined 10s., with the alternative of .48 horars' imprisonment. , •• John Leonard, who had beetn found in a stato of helpless drunkenrass, was ordered to pay medical ' expenses amounting to 17s. Gd. William Haydon appeared upon charges of insobriety, and of breaking a window in the Wellington Hotel. He was convicted upon each charge. On tlie first ho was fined 10s., aud on the second was ordered to pay the sum of 255. It was stated'that the defendant had 40 previous convictions against him. Joseph William Roberts was charged with being idle and disorderly, in that he was found' begging in Taranaki Street. He was convicted and ordered to bo handed over to the military authorities. . John Arthur Jackson and Patrick Ryan were each fined 20s. (in- default seven days' imprisonment) for stealing a pair of shoes, the property of Henry Edwards. ißyan was remanded till Friday on a charge of breaking a prohibition order. William Southee and David; John 'SdiitlieoWere remanded on bail till Wednesday, when they will be called upon to answor a charge of sheep stealing. ■ ..
