MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. W. G. Eiddoll, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court on Thursday. William Hibberdj driver of a motorcar, for whom Mr. T. M. Wilford appeared, was convicted: of driving his car at a greater, speed than 8 milesan hour -when crossing the intersection of Bunny Street and Lambton 'Quay, and was ordered to pay Court costs, 17s.| and expenses of witnesses, 245., and for driving his car past a standing tramcar at more than 4 miles per hour defendant was fined 20s. and costs, 7s. Some time ago Hilda Koherstein was committed to the Salvation Amy Home, but recently she escaped l from the institution. She appeared in Court charged with- escaping, and,.was convicted and ordered to be returned to the Salvation Army Hqme. Three seamen,' charged.:- with deserting from an oversea steamer, wero ordered to pay expenses, £4 7s. 6d. For insobriety, one first offender was convicted and discharged. . William M'Elwain, against whom there were two previous convictions, was fined 205., in default three days' imprisonment. CIVIL CASES. Judgment by default was given for plaintiff in the following undefended civil casejs: —Karori Borough Council v. Andrew Archibald Simpson, £1 ss. lid., costs £2 Is.; Bristol Piano Co., Ltd., v. George Leo Fairchild. £23 12s. Id., costs £2 165.; G. RosenbeTg and Co. v. Samuel Austin, £14 19s-: Id., costs £1 12s. 6d.; Osmond and Son (N.Z.), Ltd., v. M. Leydon, costs only, 55.; W.F.C.A. v. Mrs. Norah .Ryan. £1 10s. 2d., costs 125.; Commercial Agencv, Ltd., and J: Myers and Co. v. P. O'Donnell, £6 10s. 9d., costs £1 6s. 6d. ' JUDGMENT SUMMONS. John Alfred Pearl was ordered to pay Henrietta Burrow £8 4s. by instalments of 30s. per month.
