, The Christchurcli "Press" Company has issued its second pocket edition of • the "New Zealand Turf Register." This edition coptoins the form of,nil horses - that have, raced from December 9, 1916. to March 10, 1917. The Register should prove invaluable to followers of pubho form. Secretary E. A. Leary, of the Wairarapa Racing Club, notifies. that Goldstdeam and Gold Soult . have, been scratched for all engagements at the meeting. Also that he is advised by the secretary of the Racing Conference that Blairfihde's registration papers have come to hand, and the Antonio gelding is eligible to startt4o-day. Vagabond, and Metallum, are all winners, and Association and Warstar have shown a lot of pace in their races. In the Wangaimoana Handicap, seven furlongs; bookers may go 6tronsly for Multiplication, as they have had a good lead.during the week by the way the big fellow has been rushed. He is a better class than the others, but the sharp turns may worry him more than his big weight. A. Oliver will b'e on Golden Grafton, and W. Price will ride Pearl Marie. In the hack sprint tho very useful Cora Ora leads the way in the handicap, .and will have the services of A. Oliver. Comment and Carlatour have both shown up well lately, and the race between this trio and Tuticorn should provide a good finish. Amongst those engaged in the Onslow Stakes is the Riddiford owned filly Exclusive, a full-sister to Bon Ton, Eligible and Co. .Those who remember the bad luck she had here when she divided Ample and Birkenvale will doubtless support her to-day. Another mount of A. Reed's likely to come in for solid backing is the Hastings trained Hendra, who has .tho reputation of being better than Llahishen in private. Those who intend being present at Peilding on Monday should note that a special train will leave Thorndon at 7.10 a.m., and will return from Peilding at 4.50 p.m. Big fields will.be the order of the day in all the events. In the Waiata Stakes, five furlongs, the Woodvillo trained Polynesian- may. carry most sunport. Analogue has been favourite for the Cup since tho publication of the acceptances. . Cheloma is a lot better off in the matter of weight in the Autumn Plate than she would be were it. a handicap, and on thia account she may carry most money. If anything beate the English-' bred filly it will be the distance. Thefield is not a strong one, and will ■be';, further weakened if Beltane,- as is reported, ia to start in the Great Eastern Handicap. • ■■ '.If Croesus is not ready, and with the distance against" Tete-a-Tete, the maohine followers may bulk their support for the Melbourne Cup winner, Sasanof, who has been favourite throughout. A win for him would make Kilboy see a very short price in the Great Autumn Handioap, more so as the latest reports concerning the A.J.C. Derby winner are most optimistic. It should bo borne in mind that the Great Autumn Handicap has never been a hard race to win. Of those engaged in the Gimcrack Handicap Charley is the latest boom. : He regularly beats Kilrea on the tracks: and the faot that his owner has entered him for the open sprints at Trontham will not lose him any support on Monday.
