SALE OF CERTIFICATES

MINISTERIAL STATEMENT

Tho Acting-Minister of Financo (tho Hon. A'. M. Myors) yesterday furnished a reporter with particulars regarding the purchase by tho public of war loan certificates which he has received from the Post Office. The following table shows the value of the certificates sold apportioned among the several postal districts on. the basis of population, and also tho amount per.head represented by tho total contributed in each such district. It will be noticed that on a per capita basis Blenheim's contribution is tho highest in the Dominion, being slightly over £2 for each member of the population. Wellington comes next with £1 15s. 2d'., closely followed by Nelson with £1 14s. Id. and Dunedin with £1 10s. Id. Wellington, contributes' tho largest total amount—£3ll,ols.
