A deputation of dairy faotory delegates was introduced to the Minister of Agriculture. (Mr. W. D. S. Mac Donald), at Invercargill on Saturday by Mr. G. J. -Anderson, M.P., relative to the butter-fat tax. The Minister said that all recognised that this was a difficult matter to settle. The whole question, however, would be gone into • again when Parliament met, and it was possible that there might be*a readjustment, although he could ■ not promise that the yoke would) bear less lightly on the farmer,, for the war was calling for more taxation eveTy day. After all, the dairymen were not the worst off by the war, although he knew them to be loyal. He was asking for their support in tiding the country over the' time of stress and difficulty, but Cabinet would give the producers a fair deal when it met. ■ A! deputation of Winton district farmers waited upon the visiting Minister of Agriculture on. Saturday with regard to the report that the Government was arranging for the pwrchase of the late Dr. M'Nab's estate as an experimental farm. They did not want to see Winton passed over. Mr. Macdonald said, that at present thero was no money for the purchaso of a farm, hut before anything was done all districts would bavo their claims considered. .
