WATERSIDE LABOUR
DISPUTE SETTLED
WAR'BONUS OF TWOPENCE PER HOUR
After four weeks of continuous negotiations the dispute between the Waterside Workers' Federation and the employers of waterside labour in New, Zealand ports was settled yesterday. . ' ' The greatest difficulty and the longest time was occupied in discussing proposed alterations in working conditions. Agreement was reached in the end, however, and it is understood that the alterations made are not considered important. The employers have agreed to pay a flat increase in wages of 2d. per hour, during the period of the war. The' increase is not at a percentage rate. It is to be twopence per hour whatever the rate per hour a worker may be earning, as, e.g., for overtime or Snnday, or holiday work. This increase brings the ordinary time rate during the war period,-up to lOd. per' hour.
