BIOGRAPH OPERATORS
WELLINGTON AWARD. The Court of Arbitration has filed its award in the Wellington. Biograph Operators' dispute. The award fixes tho minimum wages for operators as follow:—Continuous theatre operator, £4 10s. per week;. second, £■1; night theatres, •£4 per week. Operators with less than a year'B experience may be employed at £3 per week, but such an engagement can be made oul.t 1 once in two years. Continuous theatres aro defined as those showing a programme' twice daily. The work at night theatres covers sis. evening shows and one matinee. Hours aro fixed at seven per day or 42 .per ■ week, with overtime at tho rato.of 4s. per hour, A fortnight's holiday on naif-pay is provided for, with proportional allowance for operators serving less than twelve months. The award came' into operation yesterday, and applies over a radius of three' miles from the chief post office.
