" IIONBI' MARKET. Tho Bank of England discount rate was on January 2, 1914, reduced from 6 to % per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and on January 23. J ne* cent. On July 30 the rate was raited to 4 per cenuy.and on July 31 it was raiseu ~w 6 per cent., and on August 1 It wus iarthor advanced to 10 per cent.'. On August 6 the rate was reduced t0.6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., on July 13, 1916, it was rnisert to 6 per cent., and on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5J per cent.
