ANNUAL GENEKAL MEETING. The annual meeting of tho Countess of Liverpool Eund Committee was held in.the Mayor's room of the Town Hall last evening, the Mayoress (Mis. J.\P.' Luke), presiding ';... .: Tho report) winch lias already been published, was read by the honorary secretary, Mrs. Alec Crawford, and Mrs. J. Findlay (honorary treasurer) presented the balance-sheet, the principal items of which were included in the published report. ', ' ' In'moving tho adoption of the above, Mrs. Luke congratulated the members upon the good work that had been accomplished during the past year. Slid said it was gratifying to see. that even as the war had' not exhausted the efforts of our men, so had it not tired those of tho women. As a matter of fact, their organisation was stronger in its capacity for work than at any timo since the war begau. The officers of the fund who had been elected at the last annual meeting, 'continued Mrs. Luke, had done their share of. work, and it' was very gratifying to see that none had given up their responsibilities,'• even though the work became heavier with the increasing number of men who were being sent away. She wished to acknowledge the generous support that had been received from tho public, which recognised the value of the Liverpool Fund. Tho heartiest thanks were due to the oommittee and .workers, who included not only the ladies, who were constantly working at the Town Hall, but thoso outside workers. The work .done by the school children, was referred' to, also the kindness of the City Council, who . had continued to give the use of the Town Hall for the fund's work, and had helped in many other ways, 'flic valuable help of tho Town Hall custodian and his assistants was specially stressed.' Mrs. Luke was sure that the work done through the medium of the Liverpool Fluid did much to keep the soldiers in good spirits, especially the constant supplies of gift parcels sent away every, month, as it showed the men that thoy were . always being thought of. •Acknowledgments of help were made, to the Sports League, the Citizens' Service League, . and the Press. '' . The election of officers left things precisely as they were, Mrs. Luke being elected, president, Mrs. Crawford honorary secretary, with the. assistance of Mrs.' M. Myers, Mrs. J. Findlay honorary treasurer, and the fame committee re-elected'. A vote of thanks ' was passed to Mr. Sclanders for auditing the balance-sheet, and another to Mrs. Luke for her services in the past.
