SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
'A popular concert was given by Mr. . and Mrs. A.,' Boyd at the Sailors' Friend Society-last night. The musioal itoms went with a swing, and were thoroughly; enjoyed and re-demanded. At the close tne following were reward- , ed with cheers: —Mrs. J. Lewis, the Misses Pickett, Stewart, Dodds, Harmer, and Messrs. Burridgo, Thompson, Walker,, Miller, Kinneberg, Piokett, ' Nicholl6, and Ryan. • Mr. Moora made an appeal for reading matter to supply the many ships in port. . On Wednesday opportunity was taken to bid farewell to tho. late organist, : Mr. Child; who is leaving for the front. The workers gave him and his bride a warm reception in the brightly decorated olub-room, where some suitable presonts w.ere made. Mrs. Williams, the president of ! the»club, sent her best wishes.- Speeches were made by Messrs. Moore. Colpus, and Mason. Corporal Child responded. ments wore served, and "God Be With You," "God Save the King," and I ■ "Auld Dang Syne" closed a delightfuli evening. .
