WHO IS THE CITY ELECTRICAL ENGINEER?
Sir, —lam pleased to see Councillor 3. E. Fitzgerald writing so plainly, about the above, but I think he is under a misapprehension about the , Mayor and Mr. W. H. Morton visiting , the electrical works at Lake Coleridge' on behalf of the City Council. They have gone there «imply_ as guests of ' Mr. Parry at his invitation for a trip, and to have a look at the works &iS. scenery, and are, I presume, paying; their own expenses. Whether their observations will be of any practicaß value remains to be proved, but I feali sure a most elaborate report of their trip will be furnished to the council.. at the first meeting the Mayor attends; after his return. .1 presume Mr. Parry will not be embarrassed too much with the high authorities that - accompany him, and so 'prevent his giving to the public a full account of the visit, the wonderful interest and knowledge shown by his visitors, and . his surprise at this. I think iii just as well that the electrical engi-*. ■ neers (Messrs. Cable and Lauchlan.)) did not acoompany the party, as it; would have been unpleasant for themt to have to play second fiddle, as theyr are only tramway electrical engineer and assistant ditto—not electrical engineer, that is Mr. Morton's position.' Mr. Fitzgerald is quite correct .in his statement that the City Council is not concerned with the method of generating the electric current. It will only; be a purchaser the same as otherav—I am, etc., 1 ' ■'■•■■■ A MAYOR'S.NEST, i
