V public meeting, held to-night un- 1 der'the auspices of the Christian Temperance Union, passed a resolution, urging the Government to yield without further delay to the widespread and frequently expressed demand for the appointment of women police an order that the young people in the | community may share in the proven advantages so afforded in many parts of the Empire and other countries; also urging'that as a right to elect logically carries the right to be -.ejected the Government-take without delay steps to remove the obstacles'in the way of women entering Parliament and also to their serving as Magistrates, Justices ; of the Peace, and jurors.
