KARORI BOROUGH
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A mooting of tho Karori Borough Council was held last evening, tho Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn) presiding. Thcro wore.also present: Councillors T. Lewerj 11. Paire, A. Hamilton, J. W. Henderson, W. C. Cooper, and !W. Skegg. _ Tho solicitor to the Municipal Association notified tho council, that a niu- ■ nieipal conference will not- be held this year, also giping his opinion regarding •.the enrolment of soldiers' and their 'rights of voting at borough elections. ! The Town Clerk reported that about , £360 in rates was overdue, and tbo ; council ■ authprfsed tho olerK to take I proceedings for the recovery of sanio. j Tho circular letter of- tho National i Efficiency. Board, inviting the coHjpcrajtion of the council in effecting econo- ! mies, and suggesting tho employment iof women in various. directions, was j read and received. ; •". ; The director of the Fields Division of the Department of Agriculture wroto j tho cou.ncij that tho. question of gorse, iin tho bor.QUgh, was receiving attention, and that tho various occupiers and owners had been put under notice to- ! clear gorse, and if, this was not done shortly prosecutions would follow. 'Hie council decided to take part in the celebration' of Anzac Day, and the Mayor was. appointed to represent the j borough in connection with any committee t]iat may be formed- by tho city, authorities to make arrangements ; for the anpivorsary.
