THE SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The (cricket season in the city is drawing to a close. To-morrow the senior championship finale will be commenced, and they will probably be concluded on the following Saturday. At present the issuo is quito in doubt, out tho general opinion is that tho Ea,st Club lias the best chance of emerging at tho head of the contest. East will meet l'etone on tho Basin Reserve to-morrow, and' North will play Old Boys. Chief interest will li« in tho East-Petone contest. East is very strong irr batting, and capable of running up extraordinary scores against any but the best bowling. Petoncj however, may produce bowling that will cause trouble. Brice, of course, is tho suburban teams most likely -mail to make tilings awkward for East, but tho team "111 general can fight when occasion arises. The East team to play Petono on Saturday will bo chosen from tho following :—Gibbes, Midlane, Condliffo, Dind, J. Hatchings, Nash, Bruce, Baker, Hylton, H. Hutchings, Walters, Osborne.
