TEMPERANCE REFORM
DOMINION CONFERENCE OPENED. [ By Teicji-ftpii—Association. Auckland, March 22. Tlio business session of the thirtysecond. Dominion Convention of tlio W.C.T.U. opened to-day, Mrs. Don, president, delivering an address dealing with the progress of Temperance reform in the various European and other countries. It was stated that a third petition to Parliament on the question of curtailing the liquor traffic wouTd be presented next session. The conference also advocated the, establishment of womeli police. In all, 89 delegates and fen proxies were present. The treasurer's report showed a credit balance of £86 Bs. 7d., against £82 Bs. The number of unions is 88, as against 52 'la,it year, and the membership is 8639, as compared with 3333 last year.
