, KILLED BY A TRAIN. By Telegraph—Press AstociaM'teiu. palmerston N., March 22. Some itime last night a fatality occurred on the railway at Shannon, the victim being John M'Gurk, clerk at a flaxmill. Deceased visited Shannon in the evening, and left for the mill about 8 o'clock. He was struck by a passing train. The body was discovered this morning. Death was probably instantaneous. The victim had not been long in the district. FATALITY AT LONGBURN. Palmerston North, March 22: A fatal accident occurred at Longhum this morning. J. C. Tregurtha was about to cross the Manawatu railway line on a bicycle, when he heard a train coming. Mistaking this for the Foxton train on the other line lie continued on his way, with the result that he was struck at the crossing by the Main Trunk express. Ho was brought to Palmerston . by the Napier express, and removed to the hospital, wliere he died.
