. ; 4 POLICE CASES. Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., presidefl over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday. . . Lilian Playter was convicted of insobriety, and ivas fined 10s., with tho alternative of spending forty-eight hours in gaol. George Harley, an old offender was also convicted of insobriety. He was ordered to pay a fine of 205., or undergo a week's imprisonment. For assaulting his wife, Francis Connell was fined 205., with the alternative of a week's imprisonment. He was also convicted of insobriety, and discharged. Mary Duffy was charged with having loitered in Courtenay Place for an immoral purpose. She was convicted and sentenced to a month's imprisonment. Charles AValker, charged with the theft of. jewellery from the Empire Hotel,; was further remanded for a week.' ,
