The British Admiralty reports:— "The onemy's destroyers shelled the undefended town of Ramsgate on the night of March 17-18, and hurriedly escaped in the darkness. It was impossible to ascertain the extent of the aamoge inflioted on them. The enemy engaged and torpedoed one of our destroyers eastward of Dover., She returned their fire, but the result is not known. ' There were eight survivors. All the officers, were drowned. A'second British destroyer was torpedoed while picking up tho survivors, hut not seriously damaged. . "A British merchantman was also torpedoed and sunk."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Router. '• ■ THE GERMAN ■REPORT. ' (Rec. March 21, 0.50 a.m.) ■ .. London, March 19. I A German official report states: "Our naval forces, on Saturday night again broke into the Straits of Dover and the mouth of tho Thames and sank an enemy destroyer and heavily damaged another. We torpedoed andsank a merchant ship of 1500 tons. Near the North Foreland our gunfire sank two enemy 1 guardships."—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. '
