MUSICIANS' UNION
The 'annual social gathering of the Wellington Musicians' Union was attended by about 120 members and friends, who spent a most enjoyable evening. Mr. A. M. Jerome presided. Amongst the toasts honoured were: "Members at the Front and in Camp" (proposed by tho vice-president and responded to 'by Pte. Tuckor); "Kindred Union" (proposed by tho secretary, Mr. J. F. Woodward, and replied to by Mr. Cummings): "The .Employers" (proposed by Mr. Potter, responded to by Mr. Walter Fuller, who emphasised the harmonious relations between the musicians and their employers); "The Ladies" and "The Press." An orchestra of about 30. members, under Mr. H. Moschini, opened the concert with the overture to "Pique Dame." The following contributed to the programme: —Mrs. J. F. Woodward, Miss Gladys Watkins, Mr. F. R. Johnstone, Signor A. P. Truda, Messrs. H. F. Wood, A. Williams, W. H. Bowman, E. Elliott, W. Potter, R. Brown, and Frank Crowther. The last named received a great reception on account of his entering into camp. Tho accompaniments tvere played by Mesdames Montague and F. R. Johnstone, Messrs. A. S. Hilliker, F. Thomas. A. Williams, E. F. King, and F. Crowther.
