NOTES AND COMMENTS
IBr Glencoi.l The. Hangitikoi meeting will take place on the Bulls course to-morrow and Wednesday. The fields ara on the largo side but class is not well represented, fn the Scott' Memorial Handicap, six furlongs Carlysian, Bst. 61b., runner-up to AVniinatoa at Masterton, may bo tho best backed, ami another of Mr. H. Do Latour's horses in Pacific Slope, runnerup to Miss do Vai in tho Masterton Cup may be the public fancy in the Baiifitikei Cup. Interlude.. Bst. 31b., has such a great dash of pace over a short course that it may be expected that the Wangauui mare will keep Carlysian at it the whole way, and something will come from behind and wear the. pair down. Likely horses to accomplish this are Veto, who ran two good races at Wanganui in" top holo company or Tree Lucerne, who is nicely placed with Bst. lib. In the Cup Pacific Slope will be meeting a better lot than he defeated at Masterton, and his publicform up till the present time hardly warrants the support he is likely to reteive to-morrow. Lady Middleton and Master Mputoa are aci/ptors in both the Kangitikei Cup mid tne Open Welter,'run on the first day of the Eangitikei meeting. It is reported on reliable authority that after all Sasanof is not to bo sent to Ellerslie for the St. Leger. but will be kept at Eiccarton with Kilboy, and will be amongst the runners for tho CT.C. Great Easter Handicap. ' The following are the entnos. for the Easter Handicap, 0110 mile and a quarter, to be run at the Wairarapa Racing Club's Easier Heeling —Heeltap, Chakwana, Koso Pink, Eingfonn, Tango, Goldstream. Gold Soult. Teka, Cleft Black Hill, Hushabye, Want, Miss do Val, Chortle, Multaine, Botanist, Montana, Merrio Gain. Captain Glossop, Ked Ribbon, Tlaumakaka, Altercation. Lingerie has evidently been left in the riinmpagne Stakes at Ellerslio in "error, as slip figures amongst ■ the entries tor tho Nursery Handicap at Tauheromkau at Easter. ,: • . .1. 1". JelTerd evidently intends doing the Wairarapa fixture with his team at Easter, as they have been allowed to drop out at Ellerslie, and are not engaced at Eiccarton. F. Davis, private trainer to Mr. i. itLowry, often buys v-. yearling in tne ring with a view to passing it on if it shows any forni. The writer has a recollection of Davis bidding for Miss de Val at Christohimh. He and the mare's present owner wore the only ones after the All Bed mare, and Davis cried a "go" first. Had he not bid. Mr. Ebb i Simpson would probably have secured i his mare for like 25gns., which was his first bid. A Perss Association message irom Auckland states that Waimai has been scratched for all engagements at tlie Auckland Autumn Meoting. A Press Association message Irom nny states that no No-w Zealand horses are included in the list of first acceptances for the Doncastor Handicap and the Sydney Cup.
