THE SECOND DIVISION
BASES OF CLASSIFICATION Tho proposals for tho classification of the Second Division of the Brpedi- , tionary Force Reserve have not yet) i come 'before tho Minister of Defence, but they have been in preparation for some time. It is understood that the proposal is to classify the men according, first of all, to age, and secondly according to the number of their children. The age standard of classification -was not used in the First Division, biit the Second Division is, of course, a very much larger body, making some such scheme of classification ■■ possible, and even desirable. At the outset it was hoped that'ifc would be possible to tafce some account of s.mais depenoanfe other than -wife and children, but. ifc is found that this entails too much investigation. The authorities are now of opinion that for the purposes ot classification ifc will be sufficient to consider only tho wife and children of_ a. reservist. A roan who has other dependants will still have tho right to appeal to a Military Service Board if he considers his case on© of hardship.
