SUPERVISION OF ORDERS
A. notice of the greatest importance to importers is published in a Gazette extraordinary issued last night. The Ministry of Munitions in the United Kingdom has requested that a local authority bo established in the Dominion to examine all orders placed in the United Kingdom for materials or stores required in the Dominion for the purpose of either directly or indirectly maintaining essential industries and the means of transport for 6ame. It is also requested that suoh local authority shall comment as to the degree of importunes and urgency of every order from a local point of view. It has heen decided that the authority in New Zealand shall be the Minister of Munitions and Supplies, and all orders to seoure supplies of materials required in tho Dominion for niairitaining production in essential industries, including all orders placed by (Government Departments must be submitted for consideration and comment bv the Minister of Munitions and Supplies. Orders will be returned to the importer with the Ministers comment attached for transmission by the importer to his principals in the United Kingdom. If priority in manufacture or shipment is desired) it will be the duty of the London principals or agents to_ apply to the Priority Branch of the Ministry of Munitions, London, and to place before that branoh a copy of the order received with the comments of the New Zealand Minister of Munitions. No application for priority will be considered unless theso conditions are complied with.
