The Hon. G. W. Russell returned from the south yesterday, and left in the evening for Rotorua. He will stay at Rotorua over Sunday, proceeding to Auckland on Monday. On Tuesday he will lay the foundation stone of the new hospital offices. Sir George Clifford arrived in Wellington from Cliristchurob. yesterday. Lieut.-Colonel B. C. Freyberg, V.C.,. who was seriously wound«d in action in France weeks ago, has rejoined his regiment. Mr. A. H. Ninnis, secretary to/Sir Ernest Shackleton, left for Sydney on. Thursday evening. He will rejoin Sir Ernest in Australia, and together they will leave for the 01d*!Countr.y. Mrs. Charles W. H. Bould, of Johnsonville, has received word from Sir James Allen, Minister of Defence, tLat her husband who was killed in action at Flers on September 27 last, was at the time of his death a u regimental sergeant-major, and not a 'priv*to, as previously reuorted. / Dr. Putnam, who has recently returned from England, will resume practice at his residence, Broad Street, Palmerston North, to-day.
