HON. G. FOWLDS AND RETURNED SOLDIERS'
The Rev. A. E. Hunt writes: —As the remarks mncle by the Hon. Ci. j'W'lds at the recent meetings of tho Congregational Union appear to have given rise to a misunderstanding, to which publicity lias been given in the local Press, 1 should be glad if you would kindly publish the following letter, forwar.ded to the manager of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Club, as it is most desirable that such an erroneous impression should be removed. I may add that in reply to a courteous invitation from the manager, several members of our council gladly availed themselves of tho privilege to visit the club, tho Hon. G. Koivlds himself being pno of tho party, and were able to correct the regrettable impression that lias been, created. The Manager, Returned Solider,s' Club. Lainbton Quay. Sir, —Your kind WUor o5 invitation to tho members of the council of the Congregational Union to visit the Returned Soldiers' Club was cordially received and accepted. I am also desired by tho council to express its deep regret that the remarks of tho Holln. (!. Fowlds have boon misconstrued into a meaning never intended or contemplated, arid to assure .you that tho members of tho council have nothing but admiration for the excellent work being done by tho Returned Soldiers' Clubs. I may add that several members of the council, including tho family of the Hon. G. I'Wlds, are taking an aetivo and personal interest in similar clubs in different parts of the Dominion.
