MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE CASES. Mr. L. G. Tteid, S.M., presided over yesterday's sitting of tho Magistrate's Court. / John Whitelaw, who had beon twico remanded for medical observation, appeared on charges of failing to answer questions put to him relative to enrolment in Expeditionary Force Reserve, and failing to enrol lit the Reserve. Inspector Marsack said inquiries showed that the defendant bad enrolled, and tlie chargo of failure to enrol might therefore be withdrawn. Ho handed to tho Bench a medical report upon the mental condition of tlie defendant. His Worship said he thought the case wfs one in which a conviotion upon the first charge, without a fine would bo sufficient. Judgment was entered accordingly, and Whitelay was discharged. _ For being drunk while in charge of a vehicle in Riddiford Street, James Bowker was fined 10s., with the alternative of spending three days in gaol. , Susan M'Laughlin, forty-seven years of' age, was charged with insobriety and the \ise of obscene language.. Defendant had a. long list of previous convictions far various offences. She was fined 20s. 'on eaoh charge, the ,total alternative being fixed at fourteen days' imprisonment. CIVIL ACTIONS. •
