AUCKLAND ELECTRICAL UNDERTAKING
Auckland, March H. Speaking at tho opening of tho Electrical Sub-station at Epsoni to-day, the Maxor (Mr. Gunson) stated that the capital expenditure on the city's electrical "undertaking was £327,000. The income last year was £55,800, and after paying the working expenses and capital charges, including the interest, sinkiii"- fund, and depreciation, there was a profit of £11,000, tho undertaking from the beginning being self-sup-porting. Tho council claimed to have the cheapest and most economical steam plant in New .Zealand, and claimed also to 1,0 selling' power at rates ranking amongst tho lowest in Australasia. The average price last year v/as 2.15 d. per unit, against an average of 2.58 d. in Ohristchurch under a water power scheme.
