Carterton, March !•')• The monthly meeting of the Central Committee of the Wairarapa, Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at Masterton yesterday. Mr.'W. lusher (chairman) presided. Tho ma Iron's reports -wore road as under:—Masterton, 39 patients admitted, 33 discharged, 1 died, 3-1 remaining in hospital; Greytown. VI admitted, 12 discharged, 1.2 remaining; Pahiatua, 13 admitted, 8 discharged, 13 remaining. It. was resolved to request the hoard's I inspectors to report on all cases in which 'charitable aid is dispensed, so that they may bo reviewed by the board.

Tho board has been informed by the Inspector-General that ho refuses to sanction tho permanent/ closing of tlui isolation ward at the Pahiatua Hospital, though ho has no objection to the building lining-used for supplying temporary accommodation for the nursing staff.

It was pointed out by tho meeting that the system of paying out cash lends itself to abuse, and is strongly depreciated by the board.
