CLOSING IN ON THE TURKS

AN ARMY "IN THE AIR"

'FALL OF BAGDAD CONFIRMED

FIGHTING IN TIE WEST

ARTILLERY BOMBARDMENTS

SPRING AWAKENING IN THE BALKANS

The fall of Bagdad is officially confirmed. The Turkish army 'of Kut, terribly cut iip, is a remnant; their other forces in Asia Minor are menaced from every direction by the Allied columns wliich "" are rapidly advancing from north, east, and-west. What tho fall of Bagdad means to German schemos for territorial and commercial expansion is well set forth in an article which appears in this issue. The advent of spring in the Balk ans heralds a general awakening of activity, and tho Rumanian arm y, reorganised, and purged of its incompetent officers, is in good fighting trim. There aro no material developments on the Western front. The guns aro booming \ all along the line. The situation with Germany and America remains the same; the next development will como when the newly, armed liners adventure into barred zone. Meanwhile Germany is reported from many quarters to bo in extremis —internally and externally—and tho wliolo of that deluded nation is simmering with the dements of a terrible outburst against the junkers who have squandered its prosperity in tho name of Pan-Germanism.
