g Auckland, March 12. L - Tlie finding of the nautical inquiry o regarding- the wreck of tho Maitai was delivered to-day. The Court was of 0 opinion that the immediate cause of the wreck was the parting of the j cable. The parting was not due to ■] neglect or to any aot of the master or , officers. Oji tho parting of the cable' _ tho master adopted all available means j to keep the vessel off the reef. Ths j. master was justified in attempting to anchor as h© did, and if tho cable had 1 not parted, the vessel, in all probabilj ity, would have ridden safely. Nq evif dence' was lead that tho cable wag j faulty, or that an unfair or excessiv© s ! strain tad. been put on it.
