Doth London and Paris aro considerably excited over the turn of events in Mesopotamia, and i n both cities iho newspapers assort that Bagdad has boon captured, tho British cavalry entering iho town without opposition. Tho Russians on tho Persian front avo advancing vigorously in order to co-operato with tho British, and Russian opinion is that the Turkish defence, even in Armenia, is weakening. On the "West front tho British are maintaining their • pressure, and the village of Iries has boon captured. The French success botween Butte do Mesnil and Maison de Champagne is described as a brilliant affair, tho ad vanco proceeding liko clockwork. ' There is nothing fresh as regards tho submarine, but there is an encouraging message from Salonika. There have been some minor engagements on the Russian front, also in Rumania, while the Italians havo had a skirmish with the enemy. The Dardanelles report has led to bitter feeling among tho London papers. A British transport carrying Capo "boys" was sunk through collision off the Islo of Wight and 600 odd coloured men w ero drowned. Peru is reported to bp aflame with revolution, probably tho result of German intrigue.
