Ihe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report :-At Hauinai. ou Tuesday, we had a fair entry of stock, competition was good, and all lots sold at lato rates. Quotations:—Fail , two-tooth - ewes 325. 9d.; f.ui. ewes, 255. 2d. : four-tooth S.D. ewes, 315.; cull lambs, 75.; weaner steers, £3 45.; springing heifers. £9; fat heifers, £10 18s.; Rood fat cows, £13 125.; heavy bulls, £10 15s. Despite the very dry weather which is now being experienced, there was a large attendance of buyers, and all classes of sheep were keenly competed for. '■ The market for sheep is still very firm" with tho exception of breeding ewes, which have eased off. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their weekly sale last, Tuesday, when they offered a fairly good yarding of both sheep and cattle to a good attendance of the public. Despite the very dry weather up the coast, they managed to dispose of all linos of Bheep. The demand for store cattle has Blackened off owing to the great shortage of feed, but fat cows and bulls met with a good sale. Pahiatua., report on their Dannevirke sale held on Thursday as follows — We submitted a, full yarding of cattle and medium entry of sheep, which did not come up to advertised numbers, to an average attendance, of buyers. Competition was not very Iteen at auction for lines of a?ed ewes, but anything showing finality realised full values.
