AMERICAN ENCROACHMENTS SIAEKED. The following is an extract from a. business letter received in Wellington from an English trader :V . "There seems to us a gieat danger that our Australian friends may imagine that because wo are at war British manufacturers cannot supply their requirements, and that they will he better served by going to America, which country, as you know, is making strenuous efforts to capture our markets during this period'of our disability. Don't you think it would be wise to point out that by continuing to support to the utmost of tneir power Bri- : jtish manufacturers they aro helping to pay for tho financial burdens caused Iby the war, and, further, many of these i British manufacturers are not only continuing their business, but tney are I also making munitions, as in our own icase?"
