HAWKE'S BAY ELECTION
c YESTERDAY'S POLLING SIR JOHN FINDLAY ELECTED The election for a successor to tho kte Hon. Dr. M'Nab for the Hawke's Bay seat was. held yesterday, and resulted in the rctum of Sir John Findlay, who defeated his only opponent, Mr. Lan Simson (Mr. A. L. D. Eraser having withdrawn from the contest) by nearly 500 votes. According to a Press Association telegram, the voting, with only three small returns to come, was:— Sir John Findlay 2,618 Mr. Simson ....'. 2,160 . The poll was a vory small one, there being 8478 names on the roll. General Election Figures. In the Hawke's Bay seat a recount was ordered, after tho general election, and the first decision, by which Mr. H. M. Campbell (R.) was returned 198 votes ahead of Dr. E. M'Nab (0.), wits reversed. Tho final figures wore; Dr. M'Nab 4.225 H. M. Campbell 4,216 Majority for Dr. M'Nab 9
