FLEMISH CATSPAWS OF GERMANY

A SPURIOUS DEPUTATION. (.Ilea March 5, 9.20 p.m.) Amsterdam, March 5. A Flemish deputation asked Herr von Bethmann Hollweg to grant Flanders autonomy on tho basis of tho Dutch language and culture. Herr von Bethmann Hollweg replied that both economically and culturally Flanders and Germany were one. He promised in the Kaiser's namo that Flanders would receive free culture scope to work out her dcsliny under Germany. The Government of Germany would guarantees freo development of tho Flemish race at the peace negotiations and thereafter. It is pointed out here that the deputation was merely a German catspaw, end its members are denounced as traitors by the vast majority of Fleml ings, as being identical with the obnoxious section accepted by the Flemish University, and bent under German patronage. —Aus.-N.Z.
