An examination of the Mararoa at LytIclton on Tuesday showed that Iho starboard sido was buckled for about thirty Xcet by tho bow. At this place tho vessel was leaking considerably. On the port side there were two big dente, both of which were leucine. The rolling chock on tho sterboa-rd eido wns also much damaged. Captain C. M'Donald is supervising the repairing operations. It was at lirst thought/that the vessel would bo ready to resume her ferry service running on Wednesday, but owing lo more (lamago being dono than was at lirst anticipated sho will not bn ready for running until to-night, and will arrivo hero as usual on Saturday. Mr. Turner, local agent for tho Blackball Coal Company, advises tho following movements of steamers:—Tho Ngakuta left Greymouth last evening, and is duo hero to-day at about 5 p.m. Tho Ngatoro was to harp left Napier at 11 o'clock last night, and is duo hero about 8 p.m. to-day. She leaves on Saturday for New Plymouth, taking general cargo. Tho Ngahero -will probably leayo Greymouth on Saturday evening, and is duo licre on Monday morning. NAPIER. CARGO ONLY. Tho Union Company advise that tho Monowai, which sails to-day, is very short of cargo space, and will tako N-apicr cargo only. MUM AND 6ENOMTA. Tlio barqucntino Laura arrived at Auckland on Wednesday morning, coal-laden, from Newcastle, after a voyage occupying 22 days, fiho left the coal port on February 6, and experienced moderate weather ■until Foriuu-y16,-when sho encountered the tail end ofa cyclone. Although the weather was exceedingly heavy, the Laura did not suffer beyond being driven some 300 miles northward of her ordinary course. Tho voyage to Auckland ia tho Laura's first trip since being extensively overhauled, and her arrival gains additional intorest from tho fact that the barqucntino Senorita left Newcastle within an hour of the Laura's departure, the race across the Tasman resulting in a win for the latter. Tho Seuorlta. was reported in the gulf on Wednesday, and should have roaohed Auckland on Wednesday night. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. John Mitchell, third male of tho Knliilifl, has come ashore. Mr. T. C. Tunning. Quite unexpectedly tho small steamer Oygnet arrived in port late last evening from Kaikoura with a quartity of general cargo. She berthed at No. 13 (south) Queen's Wharf, and to-day will shift to Petoue, where she trill load sheep for Pigeon Bay.
