DUTHIE CUP COMPETITION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, March 1. The Duthie Cup competition between teams representing the Hutt, Wellington, and Wanganui Bowling Clubs commenced to-day. Hutt defeated WeL lington by six points, and Wanganui defeated Wellington by 19 points. Wanganui and Hutt play the n'nal in tho morning. NEWTOWN V. THOENDON. Three rinks from Thorndon played a friendly game at Newtown yesterday, and on the aggregate won by four points after a very enjoyable afternoon. Ine scores we're:—Newtown: Thompson, Crosby W. J. Bobbins, Spiers (s.), IS; Thorndon: Thomdon, Ferguson (sub.), Ross. Conlin (s.), 17. Newtown: Playne, Hunt, Armstrong, Underwood (s.), 20; Thorndon: Dumbell, Stanford, Hatch, D. T Wilson (s.), 20. Newtown: Green, F. Bobbins, Barker, Leahy (s.), 18; Thorndon: Medland. Gamble, Shallcrass, Dimoek (s.), 23. Totals—Newtown, 56; Thorndon, 60. THE KELBUEN CLUB. Great interest was displayed last week in tho final stages of the Singles Championship. In Section A, Stephens, Johnson, and Smith tied. In the play-off Stephens beat Johnson, and afterwards Smith (who had drawn a bye) and so won the section, Eoutle.y won Section B. Doherty Section C, Gray and M'Coll tied in Section D. On playing off Gray beat M'Coll. In the semi-finals Stephens beat Routley and Gray beat Doherty. The final lias now to be played between Stephens and Gray. On Saturday next the Lloyd Cup rink competition will reach an interesting stage, when the last but one round will be played. At present Gray's team leads in Section A and Dall's in Section B. AUSTRALIA VERSUS NEW ZEALAND. The return match at Eastbourne on Saturday will be played by tho following:—Australia—Cray, Nicholson, Marquis, Powell (s.). New Zealand—Munro, Abraham, Watson, Mayer (s.). The annual match between Eastbourno Borough Council and the Bowling Club will take place on Saturday:— Council teams—Kelly, Preston, Foley, Morris (s.); Russell, Cooke, Levi, Pilchcr(s.).
