AGRICULTURISTS AND THE WAR
QUESTION OF INDISPENSABLENESS. London, February 27. Sir JR. Winfrey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture, said the Government did not propose to give the Minister of ARricultuni power to declare that agriculturists were indispensable. Lord Solbonie, speaking at the Middlesex Guildhall., said it was preposterous that the efforts of Mr. Prothero, Minister of Agriculture, should bo thwarted by the Army Council, the Food Controller, or the Director of National Service. This was a most dangerous policy, that these Departments should interfere in matters affecting the production of food until tho War Cabinet had reached its decision.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
