NEW SOLDIERS' CLUB

FOE TOENTHAM.

The proposed Soldiers' Club at Trentham for the use of officers, _ noncommissioned .officers, and men will be situated on tihe corner .of the Trentham racecourse, between the surrounding belt of trees and thepresent bakery, and will front the main road. The building,-which has beenjuanped under the direotion. of Mr. E. H. Hiley (General Manager of Railways), is to be a one-story wooden building, forming three sides of a juadrangle. The front of the building in the centre will be the men's social hall (30ft. Ijy 60ft.), whilst on-the northern sioe will be the men's writing and reading room (30ft. by 83ft.), and, opening off that, the men's billiard room (54ft. by 30ft.), with all conveniences at the hack. On tfte southern side will be the N.C.O.s billiard room (30ft. by 40ft.), their reading and writing room _(2oft. by 30ft.), and behind that again will be the officers' billrard room by 34ft.), and their reading and writing room (20ft. by 30ft.). In one corner of the enclosure made by the two wines will be quarters for the caretaker, lne arrangement of the building makes it possible for every room to obtain a full measure of natural light from both sides. A heavy-weight paroid roof will give a finish to the structure.
