The associated, selling brokers, comprising the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Messrs. Dalgoty and Co., Lid., Lovin and Co., Ltd., A. 0. Cooper aud Co., Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and the Wairarapa Farmers'. Cooperative Association, Ltd M report as follows:— TOie annual ram fair conducted under the auspices of the Hasterton A. aud P. Association was held at the- Solway showgrounds on Thursday and Friday, a total entry of 2340 being passed through the ring. Tho attondonce was very large, buyers from a distance being present, comprising representatives from Giaborno and the South Island, including Marlborough and Otaeo. A prominent visitor was a member of a firm from tlie United State?, who appeared keenly interested throughout both days. An innovation this year was tho experiment of selling the stud sheep at the conclusion of the flocks. The idea appeared popular, and one that is likely to be permanently adopted. Tho arrangements generally, with the help of the few minor improvements made, worked splendidly, and the ram fair committee, comprising Messrs.' W. D. Watson aud Peter Cooper, as usual put in a i!tr«nuous lima, and appeared to give satieJa-ction to all concerned. BomHO.VS and Shvspshires were offered tho first- day, and iiim:olns and Southdowns th» seoond Any. A very spirited sale has to lie reported throughout, and some splendid averages were recorded for flock sheep, whilst sensational figures were given for both stud liomnoys and Lincoius. Several lots of aecond-class rams were penned, but they met the usual fate o£ being passed through the ring, in many cases without competition. It was onco again demonstrated that, the Masterton Fair is not the place for the disposal of inferior aheep. ftesb. records were made in several instanoee, and, taken as a whole, the fair can be summed up as the most successful yet held by tie Association, and possibly second to none in the Dominion. •
